Six wheels, two kilns, one slab roller and a glaze wall we mix in-house. The studio is run by three tutors who between them cover throwing, hand building and glaze chemistry.
We fire every second week. Bisque goes in first, glaze firing follows a few days later, which is why finished work takes two to three weeks to come back to you.
Open studio hours are the best time to look around — Wednesday mornings and Friday middays. There is no need to book to come and see the space, but a message ahead means somebody will be free to talk.
The entrance is the green door at the side of the building, not the main one. Ring once and wait; the wheels are loud.
Do I need experience? No. Beginner courses assume none.
Can I use my own clay? In open studio, yes, as long as it fires to our kiln schedule. In classes we supply it.
How much can I make? Beginners usually finish a course with six to eight pieces. Some of them survive.
Is there parking? Two spaces behind the building, otherwise street parking is free after 18:00.
